humble beginnings

The first translations by the team at Refiner were produced back in 1999. In the beginning, we operated as a simple husband and wife team, providing translating and language editing as well as language tuition on a contract-by-contract basis. In 2002, we founded Refiner Translation Bureau and since then we have grown steadily both in terms of our client base and the scope of our work.

Right from the beginning we decided to differentiate our services from other bureaus on the Estonian and Baltic market by guaranteeing that all our translations are edited by a native speaker of the target language. We have always specialized in translating into English and we can confidently say that we now have one of the best teams of English native speakers editing texts in Estonia.

Refiner initially focused on topics such as business, economics, the arts and humanities, historical research and tourism. These days we have added several other areas to our expertise, as well as improving our quality assurance since many of our translators have worked abroad and are used to working to international translating and interpreting standards.
